Staying Safe in a Digital World

Here at The Woodland Federation, we pride ourselves on nurturing children who are 'healthy, happy and hungry to learn', a major part of this is ensuring that our children are equipped for a digital world. In order to attain this we supplement our Curriculum and PSHE scheme of learning with Common Sense Education Digital Literacy.  The Common Sense Education curriculum covers a multitude of different aspects to keeping safe online, including:

  • Media Balance and Wellbeing
  • Privacy and Security
  • Digital Footprint and Identity
  • Relationships and Communication
  • Cyberbullying, Digital Drama and Hate Speech
  • News and Media Literacy

We recognise how difficult it is to stay up-to-date with the latest online crazes and games, this is why we subscribe to the National Online Safety Hub.  Every Wednesday the team at the Hub release new guides, aimed at supporting adults and carers to keep their children safe online - and also give children a greater insight into how games and apps work - This is called Wake Up Wednesday.  We aim to share these guides with our parents each week via our social media pages and by uploading them to this section of the website.

Staying Safe Online

If you are experiencing online bullying or something else online has worried you please speak to an adult you trust, or you can talk to Childline at any time on 0800 1111 or at www.childline.org.uk.

CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection)

CEOP helps any child or young person under the age of 18 who is being pressured, forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity of any kind. This can be something that has taken place either online or in ‘the real world’, or both. The CEOP Safety Centre has clear information and advice on what can be reported to CEOP, the reporting process and what will happen if you do decide to make a report. You can visit the CEOP Safety Centre and make a report directly to CEOP by clicking the Click CEOP button.
