    Religious Education

    Intent

The principal aim of RE is to engage pupils in systematic enquiry into significant human questions which religion and worldviews address, so that they can develop the understanding and skills needed to appreciate and appraise varied responses to these questions, as well as develop responses of their own.

    Implementation

RE is taught in line with The Derbyshire Agreed Syllabus 2020-2025, delivered via Primary RE from NATRE (National Association for the Teaching of RE) and Understanding Christianity. This scheme uses a question led approach, with each unit aiming to explore different aspects of religion through questions.

    Impact

From their RE sessions, children should:

    • Know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews.
    • Express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions and worldviews.
    • Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage seriously with religions and worldviews.
